PSA for all those living in City of Joburg. We are now on a 2 hour loadshedding schedule. City Power didn’t bother telling anyone beforehand they just started turning off the power at the new times

Rainy Saturday morning here. And continuing confusion about when we’re actually being load shedded now. The shorter periods are nice, but more time off when there’s 2 in the day, or when we only get power back 35 minutes later than it should, like this morning.
Still, shorter than @murfle’s 26 hours, so I guess we should be grateful for that.

This was one of the things I thought about a lot when MyBroadband first offered me the option of going semi-freelance. Having to buy my own breakfast and lunch, coffee, etc. would be a significant additional drain on my salary. The increase in the water & lights when you work from home is tiny in comparison to even simple benefits like coffee and snacks at the office.

Quick question for the petrol heads. Gymkhana, did Block quit it or gave it to Travis now. Was Travis just like a feature driver or what? Saw the 2020 video now and was surprised that it was Travis and that he drove a Subaru.

Pretty sure it’s a once off. Blocks’ 10 year marketing collaboration with Ford ended last year but his Hoonigan company still owns the Gymkhana thing. Vaguely remember a tweet of his from early last year saying something about taking Gymkhana “back to its roots” (I think the first one or two he used Subarus).

Morning everyone! We had a pretty grand weekend. We decided to go away for my mother’s 63rd birthday and got an AirBnb in Kleinbaai - and what a glorious little town it is! Our son was enthralled by the little harbour and watched the boats being launched for more than an hour. After seeing his exuberance upon each boat launching, the one lady working there said he can have a walk around on the one boat just after they launched and moored it against the boarding plank. He absolutely loved that and I’m sure it’s a memory he’ll keep for as long as 2-and-a-half year olds can keep memories.
