I’m looking forward to trying out the GBA Fire Emblem. To anyone who hasn’t played Golden Sun - give it a shot. I love that series. Genuinely delightful RPGs!
Not quite Switch related, but the 3DS and Wii U eShops are closing on the 27th. There are many exclusives that will be lost. If you are still into those systems, and plan on playing some games in the future, nab what you want now!
There’s so much good stuff on them! There’s also a good sale going on.
I was wondering if they will actually do a sale. there are quite a few that I wanted to get, but last I checked they didn’t allow you to add funds?
I want A Link Between Worlds. My 3DS is also a little borked right now, it switches off randomly(back cover issue by the looks)
Edit: I’ve found a way(mentioned in the article you posted. shot.)
I cannot find it in this article, but can you still download owned games after the store closure?
One more week!!!
Fun fact, it’s also the highest rated game of all time on Opencritic right now.
There was a Nintendo Direct yesterday:
I’m looking forward to Unicorn Overlord and Snufkin
Even non-Nintendo fans will be happy to know that a reworked version of Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for all platforms.
I feel I have to highlight this, as I loved Ender Lilies.
Something that is still on my wishlist (bucket list) to get and play.
Necro!!!
Nintendo finally talks about the Switch successor. Announcement to be made within this fiscal year.
This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the successor to Nintendo Switch within this fiscal year. It will have been over nine years since we announced the existence of Nintendo Switch back in March 2015. We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.
That was a damn good direct. So many new first party games this late in the consoles life cycle is amazing. I also appreciate that Nintendo don’t announce things too early as much. Cannot wait for the new Zelda game.
NECRO TIME
Got a Nintendo Switch as a gift, so I’m looking to load up on games. I loved the Metroid games on the SNES (from before they were called Metroidvania), so I’m looking into those and the Zelda games for a start. The question is, what other games, preferably older and thus cheaper, could I not afford to miss out on?
Nice! You came to the right place.
Metroid Prime Remastered is great. Metroid Dread is also really cool. I haven’t finished either one because they are too hard for me lol.
Zelda BOTW is a must play and the best one to start with IMO. But also check out Link’s Awakening and Skyword Sword if you’ve not played them before. The latest one, Echoes of Wisdom, is really great too.
Super Mario Odyssey is an amazing 3D Mario game (as is Super Mario 3D World) and Super Mario Wonder is an amazing 2D Mario game.
Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros are great MP games to have>
If you’re into JRPGs I can wholeheartedly recommend Xenoblade Chronicles Trilogy, Dragon Quest XI, Octopath Traveler II, Persona 4 and 5
Good strategy RPGs I’ve played are Fire Emblem Three Houses and Unicorn Overlord.
Animal Crossing New Horizons is the ultimate cozy game if you’re into that kind of thing.
Golf Story is a must play indie game. The sequel, Sports Story, is terrible though.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 is pretty great as well if you like Marvel. It does have some performance issues though, but I could live with it.
Sorry, I know I’m not really listing older and cheaper titles. Nintendo first party games don’t really get cheaper.
Vampire Survivors is pretty cheap and super addictive.
There are some deals on the eshop at the moment (theres always somethig on sale) so you can have a look.
This website is great for checking prices:
Steamworld Dig 2 is R26 for example.
This is brilliant, thank you for the effort! Much more descriptive than a metacritic top 100 list! I’m probably going to start with BOTW and that sub to get all the old 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit games going.
The Metroid games Wlad mentioned are indeed great on Switch. I replayed Super Metroid that way before Dread. The Prime remaster is incredible! It was so far ahead of its time, and absolutely holds up today.
I’m playing Echoes of Wisdom and it’s an absolute delight! BotW and TotK are a must play too.
Golden Sun 1 and 2 is part of the GBA classics. Those are a couple of my favourite JRPGs.
The Bayonetta games are all time greats. The first two should be cheaper.
Also, explore using Vouchers for newer releases. It’s R1800 for two, meaning you can get two, new releases for R900 each.
Not quite. Loads of leaks and renders been going around in recent weeks and months…
