The Official Xbox Thread

So since that whole situation happened my Xbox seems to be a bit, how can I say, unresponsive. Like I tried to boot up FH5 and I clicked the tile but it did nothing. I heard the sound and saw the action on the tile that it recognises the input but it took about 20-30 seconds to return and say it needed an update. Perhaps this was due to internet connection too?

Just watched all these episodes. Man, that was well made. The fact that they admit all their mistakes, own up and find a way forward really gets a lot of respect from me!

Cheaper than the standard Series X!

Yeah, but… those Series X sales at R14k+ are all through third party resellers. The standard Series X price was/is R11999.

Oh, wow, did not notice! I always had the Series X at R15k thanks to those guys!

And I should have said it is “LESS EXPENSIVE” rather than “cheaper”…

Yeah, when buying mine I looked at it and Game4U and BT Games both had them for about R15k so the base Series X was still sitting at R11,999 and both stored had plenty stock.

So i notified xbox support that i am having issues launching some of my titles now, before the new dash update all my 360 games worked regardless of its region purchased but now if i launch orange box it doesnt want to launch as there is no SA store listing but the moment i switch to UK region in which it was purchased it works, so its clearly a drm issues, it doesnt apply to xbla titles though daytona isnt listed on the sa store but it launches so i suspect xbla arcade titles are drm free. microsoft did get back to me and asked me to explain what the problem is

Hello @DeemWP ! Thanks for reaching Microsoft here on Twitter, and apologies for the delayed response as we continue to attempt to service a high volume of requests here on Twitter. We recommend you change your region only if you’re moving to a new country or region for a long time. This is important because stuff you get in one region might not work in another, including Xbox Live Gold, apps, games, movies, and the balance in your Microsoft account. It seems that this is your case, and unfortunately support agents and advocates can’t do much when it comes to this kind of issue. Only repurchasing the game in the correct region will fix the problem considering it’s an entitlement issue.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps, clearing the cache files and redownloading your account ?

We’ll be waiting for your reply. Stay safe !

So told them this now

Thank you for getting back to me, the problem was in 2007 when i bought my first xbox, xbox live was not available in south africa, south africa only received xbox live in 2010, thats 3 years later thus the only way to use the xbox online for purchases and updates was to use it in another pal region, until the service eventually became available in south africa, i have no problems playing those titles on my original xbox 360 the problem is when i want to play it on the xbox one then it only works if the console is set to uk and it doesnt make sense since the xbox one is supposed to be a region free console, if i move to germany for 3 years and use xbox live there and purchase titles, i expect those titles to still work when i move back to my country since ive legally paid for it, if its not listed on the store in one country it shouldnt matter as i have already paid for the title and played it legally on my console, but i appreciate the feedback, thank you

The issue is not that you no longer own the game, but once you switch to a region in which that the game is unavailable in the store, you won’t be able to play said game since the store you’re associated with can’t find it. It is about each region’s available games. For example, GTA V is a well-known title, but some regions ban that game and even if you buy it legally in one region, and move to a region that bans GTA V, you won’t access the game you purchased legally in a different region. This is just an example to clarify and generalize on the subject.

Indeed, the case of some of these games isn’t a ban, but it simply that they weren’t made available to that region. The only remaining workaround is to use the region you purchased it on.

The console itself and games are region free, but this is not about a region lock but about the unavailability of the game in that specific store/region. This can be even due to the publisher’s choice of which regions to publish the game to.

We hope this explains it and answers all your questions and remarks. If you need help with anything, please feel free to reach out. Have a lovely rest of your day!

I give up with ms, it doesnt sink in, so essentially what they are saying is that when a game will eventually get delisted then you probably also wont be able to play it since there wont be a store page for it ? the problem is drm and it doesnt register FFS
