Your rig looks awesome @oltman!
I like that idea!
We just need Captain Greg to find us those sponsorsā¦
Lol. Bollocks to that! Iām the broke-arse, part-time employed, bond and university fee paying semi-pensioner, remember? I bloody well need a sponsor for my life.
You lot are the young, energetic talent. Get out there and start marketing yourselves already! I mean really! Come on team! Go out and just do it!! Rah, rah!
Was that managerially motivating enough? Too much?
Continuing the discussion from My Sim Racing Rig:
Hi @oltman
Please can you provide me with your contact details, i am on the same path at the moment, and i would like to talk to you.
Hey @Slayer
Looks like you accidentally posted a reply instead of a private message. The forum software also reckons you typed this message too fast.
Are you a bot? A spammer?
If not, please drop by the Introduce yourself topic and tell us all a bit about you.
Iām going to use this thread rez for good - @oltman: You mentioned a local guy that supplied you with the aluminium extrusions, care to name drop?
I only use my powers for good
I ordered the aluminium from MODUASM and the guy I ended up dealing with, Malcolm Emms (EMAIL him) was really helpful. There is another place in Richardsbay but their prices were consistently more.
Also, I cannot rate MAY-CAD enough! it is so simple to design your own rig with this!
Iāve got a license for Solidworks, and the weldments feature is specifically designed to easily draw structures with I-beams and channels, and it works really well with Alu extrudes as well. Iām going to try MAY-CAD, though, just to compare. Iāll report back!
EDIT: Moduasm has cad files!! I love them!
I need a safe way to mount the Arduino to my rigā¦ Without shorting it out. So no cable tiesā¦
Inside a kosblik?
So, a small update
Through a serious of fortunate events and incredible generosity, I managed to get 3 of those XCEED-ingly good monitors from Checkers! (See @Darthmolās thread)
It has long been a dream to have 3 monitors, as the level of immersion is next level (ta dum tiss), and some driving accuracy is just a bonus. I now see apexes for sharp corners easier and I can judge when to accelerate better.
I am under no illusion that guys drive way better than me on far worse rigs, but that is just proof that I need all the help I can get.
For example, Ty Majeski, a pro racer, has more than 10k iRating, yet drives on THIS:
But I digress.
This is my new monitors in position. Please ignore cable management and position. Trying to source some table mounted arms to get the screens closer to the wheel so I can have a better FOV.
Tonight will be my first race with these monitors and I am SUPER excited!
Special thanks to my significant other, you ROCK hard, Lumpy!
Oh man, that must be heaven. Are those 60Hz monitors, or something faster?
Theyāre 144Hz monitors
Very nice setup. Enjoy it!
oh my PP
Valhalla
Looks right proper mate! Wish you may happy miles of going cross-eyed trying to watch all 3 monitors at the same time, all of the time! What would do without our significant others?!
That looks so unbelievably cool dude. You have created Sim racing nirvana. I am infinitely jealous and hope you enjoy it thoroughly.
