Xbox Series X/S

It’s still not a great idea to follow up the Xbox One X with the Xbox Series X.

I definitely agree with that. There’s going to be a lot of moms who will probably buy the wrong stuff.

Yeah that’s exactly what I was thinking.

Think of the disappointment (next year) when little Timmy asks for the New Xbox Series X for Xmas but Father Xmas gets him the Xbone X instead.

Poor kid.

Next gen but can at max do 120fps. So much for cutting edge…

So many X’s in that paragraph.

Let battle commence! *

* not really a battle when all I see is win-win for gamers!

Why would you need more than 120 fps?

Why not. Most new monitors are 144 not 120. So why limited the monitor’s capabilities, especially when this is supposedly new gen…

They must have some reason. Probably to save costs. I can’t really see why there would be a limit.

I’m just in it for The Elder Scrolls 6.

I’ve been playing on a PS4 in the UK, I enjoyed it - but it made me realise if you just a normal gamer like me their is huge difference between brands (PS4 exclusives don’t sway me)

Don’t know if real or not. Got it on social media.

it is real cause digital foundry did a comparison not so long ago. the ps5 is even bigger with its clearly single motherboard design

$249 is a next gen console that is cheaper than a switch, dont know how sony is going to respond to this, the all digital ps5 is probably going to be a $350 - $399 console and a $100 is a massive difference.

I’m genuinely amazed at just how small it is - how’d they fit all the bits inside a case that’s not much more than two stacked controllers big? And while I know the claims are that cooling won’t be an issue, I’m wondering if our hot summer climate might make a mockery of that claim…

i think that collossal fan on the side alleviates that issue

Cheaper than a switch until it lands on SA shores. The S will probably be around R8000-R10000 retail.

Who’s to say Sony won’t match that price with their digital version. They’ve sold consoles at a loss before they can do it again.

Either way if I do get a new Xbox it will be the S. The X is pointless for me since I don’t have a 4K TV and will only play game pass titles. PS5 I’ll get the disc based one so I can still play my physical PS4 games and get certain games like Demon’s Souls physical.

But before I buy either of those I’ll wait and see what Nintendo does. If there is a Switch Pro coming I want that.

Remember the discless PS5 will be the same “full fat” PS5. So the same powerful specs. The S version of the new XBOX will be severely underspecced compared to the X. Still, that’s a great price for the S…

I agree on the pricing but we’ll have to wait and see how that changes for our market. Look at what’s happening with local RTX3000 GPU pre-order prices. It might be placeholders and what not but we are getting robbed when pre-ordering locally.

I don’t think Sony is too worried with MS pricing. They still lead the exclusive race and there are rumors of lots of unannounced first party PS5 exclusives coming.

In terms of value for money for the average “entry-level gamer” I think MS is going to dominate with the combination of the Series S and Game Pass though.
